For twenty-three years the District Attorney's Office, along with local law enforcement agencies and Team Fort Collins, have sponsored a drug free poster contest. This contest is open to all 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade students in the Poudre and Thompson Valley school districts. This year’s theme for the contest is “Too Smart To Start.” Students from all over the two districts submitted their artwork this month and prizes were awarded to the poster winners as follows:
Calendar Winners: The judges chose 13 calendar winners; one of the 13 was selected to be featured on the cover of the 2012 Drug Free Calendar and will receive a $100 savings bond The other calendar winners will receive a $50 savings bond.
Congratulations to the following students from Kinard who represent 11 out of the 13 chosen winners for the 2012 Drug Free Calendar:Indigo Corso, 6th Grade; Audrey Pettner, 6th Grade; Caroline Dunphy, 6th Grade; Jenna Biedscheid, 8th Grade; Meg Deitchler, 8th Grade; Will Malone, 6th Grade; Rebecca LiPuma, 7th Grade; Stephen New, 7th Grade; Gianna Campana, 8th Grade; Arti Pandey, 8th Grade; Lauren Clear, 7th Grade.
Red Ribbon and Team Fort Collins Winners: Additionally, two students from each participating school were selected as Red Ribbon Week winners and one student as Team Fort Collins winner. Congratulations to Mina Chi, 7th Grade, and Hailey Derrisaw, 6th Grade, whose posters were selected to represent our school for Red Ribbon Week, and congratulations to Abby Meyer, 6th Grade, whose poster was selected to represent the mission of Team Fort Collins.
