National Blue Ribbon School
Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School has earned federal recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School. Schools that receive this award are selected annually by the U.S. Department of Education based on data that demonstrates consistently high trends in academic achievement over a 3-5 year period. In the 32-year history of this federal award, Kinard is the first secondary school in Poudre School District to receive a Blue Ribbon School Award. Approximately 300 schools in the nation are designated with this prestigious award of academic excellence annually, which is equivalent to less than one percent of the 132,000 schools in the United States of America.
A ceremony for all 2015 Blue Ribbon School Awards took place in November in Washington, D.C. Kinard’s principal, Jesse Morrill, represented Kinard at the ceremony along with founding principal Joe Cuddemi and teacher Cecilia Bonertz where they received a plaque and a flag as symbols of Kinard’s status as a National Blue Ribbon School.
