Tim McGonagil teaches Technology at Knard Core Knowledge Middle School where he also teaches entrepreneurship and is the Lego robotics head coach.
Tim spent seven years in the U.S. Navy directly out of high school. He left the armed forces to pursue post-secondary education at The Ohio State University. He moved to Cincinnati where he returned to school and received his teaching certification. Tim began his teaching career in 2001 at the high school level instructing visual arts and photography. After taking on different leadership roles, he returned to school at the University of Cincinnati where he received a Masters degree in Educational Leadership. Tim spent the next five years in two different middle schools as assistant principal before moving to Colorado in 2013 as principal of a K-8 charter school in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This is his eighth year at Kinard in the Technology department.
Tim enjoys teaching with an international perspective and his background in the arts invites creativity and exploration into the Tech classroom. His philosophy of teaching involves bringing out the creative, problem-solving, hands-on side of his students while incorporating fun ways to explore challenges. He enjoys instructing students in the middle years of their academic career. He believes the most important period of growth for students - physically, emotionally, socially and academically – is in middle school. Tim feels that Kinard sets the gold standard for a supportive, rigorous, well-rounded education and the focus on character is paramount to the middle school education foundation.
When not teaching, Tim enjoys spending time with his wife Ramona, a certified counselor and his daughter Reilly who now lives in Grand Junction. He enjoys woodworking, gardening, home improvement and photographing the Front Range. His family is active in church with local mission work. As a family, they love to camp, bike, hike, and enjoy Ohio State football, and Rockies baseball.
