My name is Amy Archibald and I will be joining the staff at Kinard this year as a new 8th grade math teacher. I am new to the Fort Collins area, and moved down to Colorado this summer from North Dakota. I graduated for the first time from the University of North Dakota in 2017 with a degree in Elementary and Middle Level Education. Upon graduation, I was accepted into the North Dakota Resident Teacher Program in which I taught 6th grade science in Grand Forks, ND while completing an intensive one year graduate program. This August, I graduated for a second time from UND with a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. I am very passionate about working with curriculum and finding ways to utilize project based learning in my instruction. I am excited to be at Kinard this year and to work with the amazing staff and students I have heard about!
I grew up in North Dakota and often traveled to the Minnesota lakes area. As a result, spending time on the water is one of my favorite hobbies. I enjoy fishing and kayaking with my family and my dog, Scout. Moving to Colorado has given me the opportunity to explore all of the wonderful outdoor activities this state offers and I have enjoyed going up Horsetooth and Greyrock this summer. When I am not working, I am spending time outside with Scout, reading, or coaching and watching sports. Growing up in the midwest, I am a huge Vikings fan so it was fun to be able to go to the preseason game against the Broncos this summer! I am looking forward to working with the students this year to learn more about their interests and the wonderful state of Colorado! Part of my passion for teaching comes from finding ways to connect the material to the interests of myself and students. I can’t wait to work with all of the great people I will have the opportunity to meet this year.
