World traveler, artist and incredibly talented art teacher, Kari Mohar is a happy camper, dark chocolate lover and proud owner of the silliest Terrier-Bassett mix you’ve ever seen. She was born with a love of art in western Ohio and fine-tuned her skills at Otterbein College and later the University of Arizona. Post Otterbein, Kari journeyed from New Mexico, where she collaborated with core teachers as an artist in residence, to Peace Corps Ghana, where she became part of the Savelugu Deaf community as a Creative Art teacher, to sunny Tucson where she introduced elementary pre-teachers to art and worked as a graphic designer while getting her masters and teaching certificate. And yes, if you so choose, one can find all 100+ pages of her Mind-Centered Curriculum thesis online. These unique experiences have given Kari a strong base from which to leap into the world as a visual art teacher. Kari recently taught middle school art in western Ohio and is now thrilled to be a part of the Kinard Middle School community. She values art as a means of sharing perspective and thinking in diverse ways.
When she’s not up to her elbows planning painting, drawing, bookmaking and ceramics projects, Kari spends her time outside, curling up with a good book and planning her next summer adventure with her family. Kari is married and has a new baby this year, stop by the art room to see silly baby videos!
