Steven Watkins is an eighth grades Science and global leadership teacher at Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School. In 2011, Steven worked as a Paraprofessional at Kinard while waiting for his teaching certification to transfer to Colorado. He has worked with students for over 10 years. Before coming to Kinard, Steven taught 5th and 6th grade science and 6th grade history at New Vision Charter School, a Core Knowledge school in Loveland. He is excited to be back at Kinard. In the summer of 2018, Steven completed his M. Ed in Educational Leadership. When not teaching, Steven enjoys spending time with his wife and two girls and going to the mountains to fish and hike.
Steven received his undergraduate degree in religious studies from Southern Nazarene University. He is currently enrolled in the Educational Leadership Program at Colorado State University.
When he isn’t teaching, Steven loves spending time with his wife Katie, daughters Emmaline and Esmae, and dog Chaco. He also enjoys fishing (fly, ice, or bait, it doesn’t matter), hiking in the mountains, and cooking.
Steven is passionate about teaching and working with kids. His goal is to help the kids he teaches to see the world from new perspectives and to understand the “why” not just the “what”. He believes that every student can be successful and the key is unlock their passion for learning.
