WELCOME TO THE KINARD LIBRARY!
For Library inquiries, such as regarding past due, lost, or damaged books,
please contact Ms. Kemeny at ckemenygambr@psdschools.org
Hours
The Library Media Center is open most days from 8:00 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. Students are welcome to visit the Library within these hours.
During Class:
Students need a pass from their classroom teacher to visit the Library.
Lunch Passes:
Students may pick up a lunch pass in the cafeteria after they finish eating. Students bring the pass to the library and place it on the librarian desk, and then stay in the Library for the remainder of the lunch period. Students can browse and borrow books, read, study and do homework, visit quietly, or use the craft supplies or games in the Makerspace. Students clean up and proceed to class when lunch is over.
Borrowing Books
Students can check out two library books at a time. Books are checked out for a two-week period and can be renewed as needed as long as there are no requests for the book. Accommodations can be made for students who need extra time or materials for a class assignment or project.
Book Care and Responsibility
Students are responsible for a book as soon as it is checked out until it is checked back in to the library. Please be careful when storing books in desks or transporting in backpacks, and please remember:
-
Keep books in a safe place away from pets and small children
-
Keep drinks and food away from library books
-
Do not color, highlight, write, or draw on library books
-
Do not bend books or tear pages
Damaged, Lost and Overdue Books
Despite our best efforts, sometimes books get lost or damaged. There are no fines for overdue books; however, students cannot check out any additional books until overdue items are returned. Should a book become damaged while in your care, please do not try to repair it at home. Bring it (and all of its parts) to the library and we will assess the damage and do our best to fix it.
Got Ideas?
In the Kinard Library we welcome your feedback! Please let us know if you have ideas for books you want added to the library, activities and challenges you would like to participate in, or supplies you want to use in our Makerspace!
