Important Information:
- Kinard’s Character Challenge:
- Taking risks can be scary; however, taking reasonable risks is part of life. Taking a new class, trying a new hobby, or making a new friend can feel risky, but also can have great rewards. And healthy risk taking can help you build confidence, responsibility, social skills, and decision making abilities.
- Challenge: Take a healthy risk and step out of your comfort zone in some way this week. You could try choosing a new partner to work with in class, asking a question when you aren’t sure about something new you’re learning, or sitting by someone new that you haven’t met before at lunch. Put yourself out there and see how it helps you to learn and grow!
- Today or tomorrow during ELO, your teacher will be talking to you about the reasons for and expectations related to an upcoming change about backpacks in ELO. This change will be effective on Wednesday, and students will then be allowed to bring backpacks to ELO. This does not change the expectation that backpacks remain in lockers during the rest of the day nor the expectation that students are prompt to ELO. We are hopeful this will make it easier for you to use ELO as a productive time for completing and organizing your work for all your classes. If you have questions about this change, please ask your ELO teacher today or tomorrow.
- October is Futures Month: Take time to think about what you like to do and how that might fit into a career someday. Answer this question, if you could have any job right now what would it be and why? The best career choices are usually ones that match your interests and abilities.
- November is almost here and with that, brings a fun opportunity for creative writers! NaNoWriMo, also known as National Novel Writing Month, is a chance to put your creative writing to the test. The challenge: draft an entire novel in just one month.
