Autism Acceptance Month and Neurodiversity Celebration Month

Good morning, everyone. In April, Kinard recognizes that this is Autism Acceptance and Neurodiversity Celebration Month.  Everyone in our school can honor this celebration by being intentional about practicing inclusion, understanding, and support for those who are autistic and neurodiverse learners. Being neurodiverse means that people’s brains work and learn in different ways, and these differences remind us that how people think and learn—such as with autism, ADHD, and dyslexia—are natural parts of being human.

Good Friday, today, April 3, and Easter Sunday, April 5

Kinard staff and students, we would like to take a moment to recognize that today is Good Friday, a Christian observance to acknowledge the crucifixion (SAY: kroo-suh-FIK-shun) of Jesus Christ. For many, this is a day of reflection, remembrance, and faith.

Good Friday is followed by Easter Sunday, on April 5, a holiday that celebrates hope and renewal, with the Christian observance of Jesus Christ's resurrection.

Hey Mustangs! CMAS is right around the corner! If you are an 8th grader, you will start with science on Monday and Tuesday, and all students will take math assessments starting on Wednesday. English tests will be the following week.

Yesterday, you should have received a detailed schedule during ELO. If you did not receive a schedule, please ask your ELO teacher or come to the main office for a schedule. If you are an 8th grader, please check the testing room assignments posted near student services and in the cafeteria. Math testing room assignments will be posted for all grades next Monday.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you bring your fully charged laptop and charging cord to school for all CMAS test days. If you would like to read after completing your test, please also bring a physical book because no electronic devices are allowed after testing sessions. Also, try to get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast in the morning to make sure your brain is rested and ready to show what you know! On CMAS days, you will report directly to your CMAS classroom each morning. If you have any questions, ask your teacher or see Ms. Bonertz in the main office. We appreciate your hard work and positive attitude toward testing!

To get ourselves ready for CMAS next week, it is important to restart our computers so we receive any Windows updates. The district pushes out these updates regularly, and you may remember that sometimes they update quickly and sometimes they take longer. We do not want you to have to wait for your computer to be ready when testing, so we are asking everyone to restart now. We will also do this after testing on Tuesday, April 14.

So, please go ahead and restart your computer now so it is ready to go next week.
