Important Information:

  • On this date in 1935, aviator Ameilia Earhart set off on an 18-hour trip from Hawaii to California, becoming the first person to fly solo across part of the Pacific Ocean.

 

  • Hey everyone, we want to take a minute to talk about something super important. Everyone struggles, even if it doesn’t seem like it. It’s OK to not be OK. Here at Kinard and in PSD, we care about ourselves and each other. We all belong here, and you are never alone. If it just feels like too much and you don’t know what to do, remember:
    • If you need support in school now, connect with a trusted adult or a counselor. Counselors will connect you to help.
    • If someone you know needs help, ask how they’re doing, listen to them, and connect them to a trusted adult or a counselor. If you’re not in school, talk to a family member or call or text 988.
    • As we mentioned, we have incredible counselors, Ms. Irvine and Mrs. Young to talk to, and we have a student wellness room that students can access.
    • Again, it’s OK not to be OK. There are resources and people available to help. You are never alone, there is always hope.

 

  • Give Next morning announcement:
    • ATTENTION GIVE NEXT STUDENTS: This is a friendly reminder that Give Next meets today.   Please make a reminder that Give Next now meets in room 303 next to the Media Center and everyone needs to arrive on time by 2:30 pm.  Thank you!! See you later today!

 

  • Free prizes are being given away TOMORROW in the media center!  Did you read over the winter break?  If so, you can register to win one of these prizes!   Entries for the winter read-a-thon are due TODAY in the media center by the end of the school day.  Winners will be announced tomorrow morning during morning announcements.





 

Clubs:

  • Mustang Kickers Club is from 3:15 - 4 pm in room 416
  • Dungeons and Dragons Club is from 3:15 - 4:15 pm in room 505
  • Chess Club is tomorrow at 7am in room 524
  • FCA/FCT is also tomorrow at 7:30am in room 300

 

Athletics:

  • Girls basketball tryouts are next week;   Tuesday January 16th, Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th from 3:30 - 5:30 in the Kinard Gym.  In order to participate in tryouts, you must have three requirements in place. Without the following requirements in place by the first day of tryouts, you will be asked to stand on the sidelines and watch without participating:

(1) A current physical on file with the school. This can be turned in at the main office.

(2) Your child must be registered in SportsEngine.

(3) You must pay the $140 basketball athletics fee through SchoolPay.

Wrestling regular season starts Tuesday and the same requirements are in place to begin the wrestling season.
