  • Ash Wednesday and Lent: This week, on March 5, was Ash Wednesday and marked the start of Lent for Christians. Ash Wednesday is a time of spiritual reflection and commitment for Christians and is often symbolically shown by people having ash on their forehead in the shape of a cross.  During the 40 days of Lent, many Christians practice fasting from meat, other foods, or give up something else to focus on spending time in spiritual reflection. Lent is the season for Christians to prepare for the celebration of Easter on April 20th of this year.
  • Women's History Month: Now that March has begun, it is time to celebrate National Women's History Month! This month, we honor the incredible women who have shaped our world and made a lasting impact on society. From pioneers in science, technology, and sports to influential leaders, artists, and activists, women have inspired change and fought for equality throughout history. Next week, students are invited to visit the Kinard media center and check out books from the Women's History display. Get inspired by learning about some amazing women who have made history and who are making it today
