The Fire Horse symbolizes themes such as adventure, independence, and momentum.

  • Good morning, Kinard community! Today is Ash Wednesday marking the first day of Lent for Christians. Ash Wednesday is a time of spiritual reflection and commitment for Christians and is often symbolically shown by people having ash on their forehead in the shape of a cross. During the 40 days of Lent, many Christians practice fasting from meat, other foods, or give up something else to focus on spending time in spiritual reflection. Lent is the season for Christians to prepare for the celebration of Easter on April 5th of this year. Let’s be kind and respectful to classmates who are observing Ash Wednesday and remember that everyone practices their beliefs in special ways.

  • Hello Kinard community! Ramadan begins today, February 18 and continues approximately through to March 19.  Ramadan is an Islamic holiday observed worldwide as a holy month of fasting from dawn to sunset with a focus on prayer, self-reflection, and community. This sacred time emphasizes self-discipline, gratitude, and empathy. Let's please be mindful of the many people in our community who practice Ramadan. There are many ways to be supportive such as being mindful to create activities in the classroom that are not food-related and offering space to students as needed who are fasting during lunchtime. For more information about Ramadan, teachers are invited to review and share the links posted in today's morning announcements.
