Important Information:
- Today is Valentine's Day!
It all started with a man named St. Valentine, who lived a long time ago in Ancient Rome. The story goes that Emperor Claudius II didn't want soldiers to get married because he thought single men made better warriors. However, St. Valentine believed in love and secretly helped soldiers get married. When the emperor found out, St. Valentine was arrested and later executed on February 14th.
- Over time, this day became associated with love and affection. In the Middle Ages, people started sending love notes to their special someone on Valentine's Day. These notes were like the first Valentine's Day cards! In the 19th century, printed cards became popular, and today, we exchange not only cards but also flowers, chocolates, and other tokens of affection to celebrate love on February 14th. So, Valentine's Day is not just about cards and gifts; it's a day to honor love and kindness!
- Today is the last day to check out your Blind Date Book in your Kinard media center! Come by and pick up your “blind date” while supplies last! You date your book, then rate your book and when you turn in your rate sheet you get candy! February Fun!
- There will be a Science Olympiad meeting today during ELO. We will discuss and prepare for regionals at this time. You will also receive a release form that needs to be taken home and completed by your parent or guardian in order to compete in regionals."
Clubs:
- “Attention Theatre Club students! Mr. Wheeler is not here today; therefore, Theatre Club will be canceled after school. Please communicate at an appropriate time with your parents if you need to coordinate a different pick up time from school. Again, there will be no Theatre Club after school today.”
- Fitness club is today from 3:15 - 4pm in the Weight Room.
- STEM Club is today from 3:15 - 4pm in Room 315.
- Mustang Kickers Club and Dungeons & Dragons Club are tomorrow.
Athletics:
- Our girls basketball teams play CLP today. The varsity and JV teams are here at home and those athletes will be released at 2:30. Our C teams will be released at 1:25 for their away game.
