We are looking forward to meeting you and sharing information about Kinard at our Back to School Night on Thursday, August 27, 2026. Please see below for a detailed outline and overview of the event. If you have any questions about Back to School Night, please contact Erin LaRue, Assistant Principal at elarue@psdschools.org or 970-488-5410.
Schedule & Timeline- Please arrive a few minutes early to allow time for parking and entry!
We will start ELO/Advisory class presentations promptly at 6 p.m. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m., and we suggest you arrive early to secure parking. We also encourage carpooling, walking, or biking to Kinard if possible, as we anticipate a high turnout.
During the event, you will rotate through all of your student’s current classes. You will need a digital or hard copy of their schedule throughout the evening. We will be sending home a paper copy of your child’s schedule by Wednesday of next week. Please be sure to ask your child for this schedule prior to Thursday evening. You can also access their schedule via ParentVUE.
The event will run from 6:00 p.m. to approximately 8:00 p.m. See the linked Back to School Night 2026-27 Handout for a detailed timeline of the evening.
Overview of the Event
The purpose of Back to School Night is to provide parents with insight into your child’s daily schedule and classroom routines. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet teachers, ask questions, tour classrooms, and learn about a variety of school resources to support your child’s learning throughout the year. We have designed the evening to focus on a parent audience. We encourage students to stay at home so that parents can authentically engage with our staff. Limiting the number of students also helps to accommodate the appropriate volume of people who are occupying our facility and classrooms.
If you have multiple children that attend Kinard, we recommend you pick a sampling of classes to visit for each child or have an additional adult guardian attend to travel to all classes. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate a second evening or additional rotations as it would make the time commitment unreasonable for our teachers because of the number of classes they teach.
Parking
Please plan on coming a few minutes early for parking and to pick up a map for the evening. Both front and back lots, including the overflow parking in the north field, will be open. Please keep our north and south ovals free of cars to allow for emergency vehicles. We appreciate you parking in the designated areas to keep everyone safe. If you choose to park on the street, please be aware of ‘No Parking’ signs on the roads and park only where permitted.
Entry into the Event
You may enter the building through the main doors or the music doors on the south side of the building or via the northeast door near our media center, depending on where you are parked.
Can't Attend?
If you are unable to join us for Back to School Night, you may contact individual teachers for the materials they shared (click here for Kinard Staff Directory). Our Kinard Quick Reference Guide is also a great resource to explain many of our schoolwide practices and expectations. We will also be hosting parent/teacher conferences in early October which will allow you to meet with teachers individually.
We hope to see you on Thursday!
